Greene County is a large and rural county in upstate New York State. , the county population was approximately 47,491. Technically, Greene County is in the Capital District region, but it is also considered part of the Hudson Valley region. The Catskill Mountains take up the southern and western portion of the county. The eastern and northern part of the county are mostly flatlands. The Hudson River is the county’s eastern border.
