Hampton is a town in Washington County, New York. It is located around seventy miles northeast of Albany, along the New York – Vermont border. Hampton is a small town, making up just twenty-two square miles. , the town population was approximately 950. For the most part, Hampton is an agricultural community. The town contains two hamlets named Hampton and Low Hamptons. When the town was first formed in 1786, it was part of a jurisdictional dispute between New York and Vermont. This dispute was settled a number of years later.
