Stuyvesant (pronounced sty-vuh-sint) is a rural town in Columbia County, New York. It sits on the eastern bank of the Hudson River around twenty miles south of Albany., the town population was approximately 2,125. The town covers roughly twenty-seven square miles. Stuyvesant was established in 1823. Several hamlets make up the town. They are named Newton Hook, Poolsburg, Stuyvesant (Formerly Stuyvesant Landing), Stuyvesant Falls, and Sunnyside.
